(Swedesboro, New Jersey—October 27, 2016) Wedgewood Pharmacy, the largest
U.S. compounding pharmacy specializing in animal health, was awarded the fourth
annual Marcum Innovator of the Year Award at a ceremony last evening at the
Sugarhouse Casino in Philadelphia. The awards program recognizes the Greater
Philadelphia metropolitan area’s most innovative individuals and organizations
in their fields. The finalists collectively add vitality and economic stability
and raise the bar higher for both Philadelphia businesses and the U.S.
Wedgewood Pharmacy was selected from among 37 finalists in
biotech/healthcare, business services, manufacturing, real estate and technology
sectors. The company tied with Triose, one
of three finalists in the Biotechnology/Healthcare large-company category.
In accepting the award, Marcy A. Bliss, president and CEO of Wedgewood
Pharmacy, said, “Innovation is a not an individual pursuit. I thank and salute
our more than 300 employees whose extraordinary listening and thinking led to
this award and allow us to serve the unique needs of tens of thousands of
veterinarians and more than 100,000 pet owners nationwide. We’re grateful, too,
to our prescribers whose dedication to solving difficult problems for patients
motivate our work.”
The Marcum Awards are sponsored by Marcum
LLP, a public accounting and advisory services firm, and
SmartCEO, a publisher, to celebrate
companies that blaze a trail in their fields by constantly seeking new ways to
advance their industries.
Jaime Nespor-Zawmon, president of SmartCEO added, “Innovation drives
progress, prosperity and growth, and the 2016 Marcum Innovator of the Year
finalists have proven that their contributions have made an impact on their
clients and the Philadelphia region, if not the world. We are proud to recognize
them for their distinguished achievements, their commitment to a better future
and their fearless pursuit of excellence.”
