S. Todd Marcum D.V.M., chairman of the Wedgewood Pharmacy Veterinary Advisory
Board, is co-founder of PetVet365, a
franchise company that creates new veterinary practices around entrepreneur
owners determined to reinvent the animal healthcare profession and to offer the
highest quality care for pets and their families.
Dr. Marcum owned his first veterinary hospital at which he practiced for 20
years in Lexington, Kentucky. During that time, he developed an interest in the
business of veterinary medicine. Over the span of 30+ in the profession, he
formed partnerships with veterinarians to open and/or operate more than 35
veterinary hospitals including general practice, emergency, specialty, and
Banfield Pet Hospital franchises. He was associated with Banfield Pet Hospitals
for 16 years as co-owner of 15 Banfield franchise hospitals in Kentucky, Indiana
and Ohio. Previously, he served as chief medical officer of Hippo Manager
Software, now known as Shepherd software.
He has been deeply engaged in the veterinary-practice merger and acquisition
business including as chief medical officer with LegacyVet. Currently he is a
consultant to Wedegeweood Pharmacy and Neogen Corporation and serves on the
board of Blue River Pet Care.
He holds a BS degree in Animal Science from University of Kentucky and a DVM
degree from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Kathleen Anderson, DVM | Founding Partner | Equine
Veterinary Care
Kathleen Anderson, DVM, is the founding partner of Equine Veterinary Care based at
Fair Hill Training Center, in Elkton, Maryland. Dr. Anderson has spent her 35+ year career “in the
trenches” caring for performance horses in thoroughbred racing and sport
horses. She has served in multiple leadership roles within the equine community
both locally and nationally, including stints with many committees of the
American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP),and culminating with the
2016 AAEP presidency of that organization.
She has a special interest in equine welfare and safety and has served since
1998 as an AAEP on-call spokesperson for televised graded stakes and well as
co-chair for Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation.
Her company, Equine Veterinary Care, has been an early adopter of emerging
technologies and has participated as a beta test site for many products,
software ideas, and business management strategies, some of which became
commercial success such as mobile digital radiology and VetCove, a purchasing
platform that changed the inventory management landscape.
She holds a DVM degree from Western College of Veterinary Medicine.

Previously, she was Veterinary Office of Marketing Services at Brief Media and an associate
veterinarian in an AAHA-accredited, Fear
Free®-certified private small-animal practice in York, Pennsylvania. Her
primary clinical interests include pain management, internal medicine, and
senior pet care, and she is passionate about veterinary team wellness, client
communication, and hospital culture and branding. Previously, she had been an
associate veterinarian at practices in Central Pennsylvania since 2009.

Shawna Garner, DVM, is a telehealth specialist in private practice and owner,
since 2013, of Albright Veterinary Services
in Marshall, Illinois. Previously, she was operations team lead for FirstVet, an
online video veterinary service; director of Veterinary Practice Sales for
Vet24seven, which operates an online veterinary service known as AskVet; and as
an associate veterinarian in practices located in Indiana and Illinois.
Dr. Garner is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the

Association, the Human Animal Bond Association, and The Association for Animal
Welfare Advancement.
She has published articles featured in Today’s Veterinary Business, Reader’s

Jay Griffiths, DVM | Medical Director/Regional
Medical Director | Veterinary Medical Center of Auburn
Jay Griffiths, DVM, is currently the Medical Director for the Veterinary
Medical Center of Auburn as well as the regional Medical Director for the
Veterinary Medical Centers in Northern California. From 2016 through 2021, Dr
Griffiths was the medical director of VCA Sunset Animal Medical Center in Fair
Oaks, California, where he practiced surgery including advanced laser surgeries.
He had been in veterinary practice since 1985 and purchased his first practice
in 1995. With his wife, Kathy, he expanded the group to include 11 hospitals in
the Sacramento and San Diego areas. In 2016, they sold the group to VCA
Hospitals, where he remained as medical director of VCA Sunset AMC through
November 2021.
Dr. Griffiths hosted a veterinary radio show on KFBK for several years; had
an advisory role with Idexx Laboratories; and worked closely with service dogs
of the California Highway Patrol, Sacramento Sheriff, Sacramento Airport, and
the Folsom Police Department. For many years, he served as chair of Health,
Education and Research for the National Pygmy Goat Association and currently
serves on the board of the Placer SPCA.
He holds a DVM degree from Ross University School of Medicine.

Pamela Hale, DVM, MBA | Chief Medical Officer | Founder,
Halar Enterprises, Inc.
Dr Pamelar Hale, DVM, MBA is a hands-on veterinary practice executive with
more than 30 years’ experience in start-up operations, business development,
contract negotiations, operations/practice administration, strategic planning,
team building, and project management. She has held numerous high-level
leadership roles within veterinary medicine, from chief of staff to chief
medical officer.
After receiving her undergraduate degree in Animal Science and her Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine degree from Tuskegee University's dual-degree program, Dr.
Hale joined PetSmart Veterinary Services (the precursor to Banfield Pet
Hospital) in 1995 and grew her career with the company throughout multiple
mergers and acquisitions, eventually serving as Banfield's East Regional medical
director. In this role, her responsibilities included operational oversight of
more than 200 hospitals.
In 2009, Dr. Hale's career progression led her to join the National
Veterinary Associates (NVA) organization, eventually as the senior division
director for the East Coast region with more than 90 hospitals and
executive-level direct reports. In 2014, Dr. Hale expanded her breadth of
knowledge and experience into the humane animal world as the vice president of
Medical Operations with the Arizona Humane Society in Phoenix, Arizona, as well
as completed her Master of Business Administration degree that year. In 2019 Dr
Hale joined Destination Pet and assumed the position of chief medical officer/US
in 2020. Destination Pet is a national veterinary hospital group with more than
75 locations. During her time there, she helped integrate 24 hospitals and
initiated doctor leadership masterclasses while also setting up a 501(c)3
charitable arm of Destination Pet. Since leaving Destination Pet in January
2022, Dr. Hale established Halar Enterprises, Inc. and now provides services as
a consulting chief medical and chief operating officer for veterinary companies.
In 2018, she was appointed to the American Veterinary Medical Association
(AVMA) Trust board. She also serves on the board of directors for Wedgewood
Pharmacy. She is a member of the CHIEF organization for women C-Suite leaders.
Dr. Hale is presently a Juris Master’s degree candidate (2023 graduation),
enrolled with Florida State University.

Andrea Johnson, DVM, is co-founder of PetVet365, a franchise company that creates new veterinary practices around

She began her career as an associate veterinarian with a practice in Kentucky
and eventually became owner and chief medical officer for 15 Banfield Pet

team. She was a veterinary consultant for LegacyVet and a self-employed
consultant prior to co-founding PetVet365.
She holds a BS degree in biology from Marshall University, an MS degree in
Biology and Biological Sciences from Marshall University, and a DVM degree from
the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

Antu Radhakrishnan, DVM, is owner and internal medicine specialist for
Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists, a 24-hour specialty referral and emergency
small-animal hospital.
Prior to attending veterinary medical school, he worked for Sheabel Animal
Medical Center and Drs. Todd Marcum and Mike Gentry in Lexington, Kentucky.
After graduation from veterinary medical school, he completed a rotating
internship followed by a residency in Small-Animal Internal Medicine at the
University of Pennsylvania. In 2005, he returned to Lexington and, with Drs.
Marcum and Gentry, started Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists
within Sheabel Animal Medical Center. In 2008, Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists
became an independent facility and moved to its current location.

Rob Swinger, DVM, is owner and medical director for a Animal Eye Guys, a group of five
veterinary ophthalmology practices in Florida.
After completing an internship in small-animal medicine and surgery at
Veterinary Specialists of South Florida in 2004, he went on to complete both an
ophthalmology internship and residency at the Animal Eye Specialty Clinic. Soon
thereafter, he joined the VCA Aurora Animal Hospital before returning to Florida
in 2011 to launch Animal Eye Guys. Animal Eye Guys has expanded to multiple
locations across South Florida extending on the east coast from Miami to West
Palm Beach and on the west coast from Cape Coral to Naples. Dr. Swinger is board
certified and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary
Ophthalmologists.
In his work environment, Dr. Swinger takes active roles in the clinic’s
internship/residency programs. He is an active lecturer/wet lab instructor
across the nation including at the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, The
Gulf Atlantic Veterinary Conference, Vet Vacation CE, University of Illinois,
St. Matthew’s University, and many local events. He currently serves on the
Florida Veterinary Medical Association’s Executive Board.
