Who is Wedgewood Pharmacy and what is compounding?

Wedgewood Pharmacy, located in Swedesboro, New Jersey, is one of the nation's largest compounding pharmacies. We fill prescriptions for compounded medications for veterinary and human-health patients. All medications dispensed from Wedgewood Pharmacy require a prescription from a licensed prescriber. We ship throughout the United States.

Why might your physician or veterinarian prescribe a compounded medication for you or your pet? Compounded medications are prescribed when the practitioner determines that the appropriate treatment is not otherwise available from a pharmaceutical manufacturer, or is not available in the strength, dosage form, flavor or package size the practitioner thinks is necessary for treatment. When your physician or veterinarian calls a prescription into a compounding pharmacy, a pharmacist prepares a medication that meets the individual needs of you or your pet. How do I fill my prescription for a compounded medication with Wedgewood Pharmacy?

If you already have a written prescription from your physician or veterinarian for a compounded medication, there are two easy ways to fill that prescription with Wedgewood Pharmacy.

  1. Fax your prescription to 800.589.4250
  2. Mail the prescription to
                  Wedgewood Pharmacy
                  405 Heron Drive, Suite 200
                  Swedesboro, NJ 08085

If you mail or fax your prescription in, please make sure you include a telephone number where you can be reached.

Your physician or veterinarian can also call the prescription in to us toll-free at 800.331.8272. See our business hours.

Once we have your prescription, we will contact you within two business days to go over the price of the prescription, or you can call us at 800.331.8272. If you decide to fill it, you will need to provide your shipping and billing information. Payment must be made in advance through check, money order or any major credit card. All prescriptions ship via U.P.S. 2nd day.

How much will my prescription cost?

The price of the prescription will depend on the strength, dosage form and package size of the prescribed medication. Wedgewood Pharmacy does require a prescription in advance before we can quote a price. Once we have the prescription in-house (how do I send my prescription to Wedgewood Pharmacy?), we will contact you within two business days to go over the price. This does not obligate you to fill your prescription with Wedgewood Pharmacy.

Will my insurance pay for my prescription?

Wedgewood Pharmacy does not participate in third-party insurance plans and requires full payment in advance of compounding your medication. For our human-health patients, we will send you a reimbursement claim form with your prescription that you may submit to your insurance carrier. However, we cannot guarantee reimbursement and recommend you check with your insurance agency directly.

What if I don't have a prescription yet?

If you do not have a valid prescription for a compounded medication, please print out this page and talk to your physician or veterinarian about whether a compounded medication is right for you or your pet. Compounded medications require a prescription from a licensed practitioner.

If you already fill a prescription through Wedgewood pharmacy, you can place your refill order online using our easy RxRefill form.
