Swedesboro, NJ (December 13, 2010) During the manufacturer’s backorder, Wedgewood Pharmacy is custom-compounding Chloramphenicol 1% Ophthalmic Ointment.
According to Drugs.com, Chloramphenicol 1% Ophthalmic ointment is appropriate for use in dogs and cats for the topical treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by pathogens susceptible to chloramphenicol. Chloramphenicol products must not be used in meat, egg or milk-producing animals. The length of time that residues persist in milk or tissues has not been determined. For further information about chloramphenicol for veterinary use, see the professional monograph in the learning center at WedgewoodPetRx.com.
Renee Lupo, Wedgewood Pharmacy’s Technical Services Pharmacist for animal health said, “Custom-compounded medications can be critical to veterinarians to serve their patients’ unique needs. A manufacturer's backorder or commercial unavailability of a medication does not lessen a practitioner’s need for that medication as a treatment option. As a compounding pharmacy we are able to fill a void so that the patient’s treatment regimen can continue, uninterrupted.”
Established in 1980, Wedgewood Pharmacy is one of the largest compounding pharmacies in the United States, providing more than 25,000 prescribers with compounds for their human and veterinary patients.
