During manufacturer's backorder of Centrine® 0.2mg tablets, Wedgewood Pharmacy compounds Aminopentam

Swedesboro, NJ (December 13, 2010) During the manufacturer’s backorder of Centrine® 0.2 mg tablets, Wedgewood Pharmacy is custom-compounding Aminopentamide Hydrogen Sulfate 0.2mg Tiny Tabs®.
According to Drugs.com, Aminopentamide Hydrogen Sulfate is a potent antispasmodic agent for use in dogs and cats only. As a cholinergic blocking agent for smooth muscle, its action is similar to atropine. Amikacin Hydrogen Sulfate should not be used in animals with glaucoma because of the occurrence of mydriasis.
Anyone who has tried to pill a pet that refuses to cooperate knows that it’s a big problem. Luckily, there’s a tiny solution. Measuring just 6.25mm in diameter (smaller than a Tic-Tac®), Tiny Tabs may make pilling much easier. They’re perfect for the most difficult-to-administer or bitter-tasting medications, and often cost less than other dosage forms.
Renee Lupo, Wedgewood Pharmacy’s Technical Services Pharmacist for animal health said, “Custom-compounded medications can be critical to veterinarians to serve their patients’ unique needs. A manufacturer's backorder or commercial unavailability of a medication does not lessen a practitioner’s need for that medication as a treatment option. As a compounding pharmacy we are able to fill a void so that the patient’s treatment regimen can continue, uninterrupted.”
Established in 1980, Wedgewood Pharmacy is one of the largest compounding pharmacies in the United States, providing more than 25,000 prescribers with compounds for their human and veterinary patients. Medications compounded by Wedgewood Pharmacy are prepared at the direction of a physician or veterinarian. Many compounded preparations are commonly prescribed, and supported by literature, to treat particular species and disease states, but you should always consult your physician or veterinarian before taking or administering any compounded medication. Wedgewood Pharmacy does not make claims for the efficacy of its compounded preparations.
