In response to requests from veterinarians, Wedgewood Pharmacy is now compounding Tiny Tabs™ in Megestrol Acetate 5mg and Famciclovir 31.25mg. Megestrol Acetate is commonly prescribed by veterinarians for behavioral- and dermatological-related conditions in felines, while Famciclovir is often prescribed for Feline Herpes (FHV-1) infections.

Wedgewood Pharmacy compounding cherry flavored oseltamivir phosphate suspension

Wedgewood Pharmacy is now compounding oseltamivir phosphate in a cherry-flavored suspension in response to the nationwide shortage of Tamiflu® suspension. The commercially manufactured Tamiflu product, from F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd, is offered in a 12mg/ml suspension (oseltamivir base) in a 25ml bottle. Wedgewood Pharmacy will fill prescriptions for oseltamivir 12mg/ml 25ml in a sugar-free cherry flavored suspension.

Wedgewood Pharmacy compounds Erythromycin During Manufacturer Backorder

While Erythromycin ophthalmic ointment is on extended backorder from the manufacturer, Wedgewood Pharmacy will compound this preparation for use in hospitals. Compounded Erythromycin ophthalmic ointment from Wedgewood Pharmacy meets US Pharmacopoeia guidelines <795> and <797> for compounding non-sterile and sterile preparations, and each tube is terminally sterilized before it is dispensed.

Wedgewood Pharmacy now is compounding implantable cisplatin beads using patented Matrix III™ drug-delivery technology under an exclusive license from Royer Animal Health. According to Barbara Forney, VMD, a practicing veterinarian and medical writer, cisplatin frequently is prescribed by equine veterinarians as a chemotherapy drug to treat equine skin tumors such as sarcoids, spindle-cell tumors, squamous-cell carcinoma and melanoma.

Wedgewood Pharmacy compounds thyroid tablets during manufacturer backorder of Armour Thyroid tablets

Wedgewood Pharmacy announced today that it is compounding thyroid tablets in response to physician demand during the long-term backorder of Forest Laboratories’ Armour Thyroid tablets. Compounded using Thyroid USP powder, a naturally occurring thyroid, Wedgewood Pharmacy’s scored tablets are available by prescription in 15mg, 30mg, 60mg and 120mg, with prices ranging from $21 to $25 per 100-count bottle. Thyroid tablets are commonly prescribed by physicians to treat hypothyroidism.

Wedgewood Pharmacy CEO receives highest Annual Alumni Award from Philadelphia School of Pharmacy

George J. Malmberg, R.Ph., F.A.C.A., F.A.C.V.P, the pharmacist president and chief executive officer of Wedgewood Pharmacy (Swedesboro NJ) was the 55th recipient of the Annual Alumni Award from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (PCP) of the University of the Sciences. It is the school’s highest alumni recognition, given for outstanding contributions to the profession, science and mankind. Malmberg, a resident of Wilmington DE, received the award at a ceremony Saturday evening.
