Just what the doctor ordered.
A compounding pharmacy prepares personalized prescription-medications for patients when a prescriber determines there's a medical need and manufactured drugs are not appropriate or available. Compound medications are "made from scratch" - individual ingredients are mixed together in the exact strength and dosage-form required by each patient as directed by a prescriber. This allows a compounding pharmacist to work with patients and prescribers to customize medicines that meet a patient's specific needs.
Since 1981, Wedgewood Pharmacy has provided custom compounding services when manufactured drugs are not right for a particular patient, when necessary drugs are withdrawn from the market and when drugs are not available because of shortages and back orders. Each year, Wedgewood Pharmacy serves tens of thousands of prescribers in human and animal health with fast turnaround times, unmatched customer service, and unparalleled quality. Wedgewood Pharmacy is the compounding pharmacy of choice for prescribers across the U.S.
The most important aspect of a custom compounding pharmacy is the quality of the medicines it dispenses. Wedgewood Pharmacy is recognized by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB®) as meeting nationally accepted quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement standards. The Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB) is a nonprofit organization formed by eight of the nation's leading pharmacy associations. PCAB members complete an extensive application, undergo rigorous inspections and provide documentation of operating procedures to demonstrate that they are maintaining the highest compounding-pharmacy quality and safety standards. Wedgwood Pharmacy was the first pharmacy in the Philadelphia area to earn PCAB Accreditation, on January 31, 2012.
