Position: Dispensing Technician
Reports to: Dispensing Pharmacist
Summary
The goal of the dispensing technician is to increase pharmacy profit
by supporting the acquisition and retention of quality customers and to
increase sales through providing extraordinary customer service to Wedgewood
Pharmacy's customers. The technician accomplishes these tasks through
working with Wedgewood's management team and all other staff employees
in fulfilling his / her responsibilities and duties.
Job Responsibilities and Duties (include the following, but are
not limited to):
- Ensure the accurate preparation and dispensing of prescription orders
to patients and physicians in accordance with all state and federal
pharmacy regulations, under the direct supervision of the registered
pharmacist.
- Provide extraordinary customer service to Wedgewood Pharmacy's patients,
clients, customers, and staff members.
- Generate and collate packing slips for sales orders that are ready
to be shipped.
- Deliver sales orders with items that are out of stock and need to
be compounded to the designated bins located in the production and labeling
department.
- Assemble invoiced orders and prepare them for final check by a pharmacist.
- Provide assistance for inventory ordering, restocking, and control.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment. Safely and adequately
handle equipment required for the job function.
- Adhere to all systems and procedures as instructed.
- Support all facets of Wedgewood Pharmacy's operations as necessary
to ensure high quality customer service and effective workflow within
the organization.
- Maintain documented systems for dispensing and inventory control as
directed.
Position-Specific Standards:
- All dispensing will be done using good dispensing technique and good
lab practices.
- All dispensing staff will adhere to all safety guidelines including,
but not limited to, lab coats, gloves, protective eye wear, and masks.
- All dispensing technicians will give the highest level of attention
to the products being dispensed and will remain constantly focused on
the orders being filled.
- All dispensing technicians will:
- Wait on customers at the front counter as quickly as possible.
- Pull, process, and assemble pickup prescriptions.
- Assist in restocking inventory.
- Process completely and immediately any priority orders.
- Assemble invoiced orders and prepare them for final check by a pharmacist.
- Perform weekly reviews of the finished prescription bins for packages
that are not picked up and remind patients by placing a call to them.
- Assist in checking and pulling expired drug items from manufactured
inventory by the 5th day of each month.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency
- Previous healthcare or pharmacy experience a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field preferred,
or pharmacy technician certification required
- Attention to detail and ability to work in an organized fashion

Position: Customer Service Representative (CSR)
Summary
The goal of the Customer Service Representative is to increase pharmacy
profit by supporting the acquisition and retention of quality customers
and increasing sales to existing customers. The Customer Service Representative
accomplishes this task through solving problems for customers, while working
with Wedgewood's pharmacists, management, marketing and sales organizations,
and other administrative and support staff.
Results: Strategies
1. Customers are "WOWED" by our service, responsiveness
and technical knowledge
- The CSR answers phones enthusiastically within 2 rings.
- The CSR treats every questions as important, and answers them thoroughly
and immediately.
- When appropriate, the CSR forwards questions to the pharmacist (or
other appropriate staff). The CSR follows up to ensure satisfactory
Wedgewood response.
- Customers feel valued, appreciated and respected.
2. Accurate Prescriptions are Processed in a Timely Way
- The CSR follows procedures for using the order entry system precisely.
- The CSR confirms orders immediately following order processing.
- The CSR maintains accurate written records, as required.
- The CSR ties up "loose ends" at the end of each day.
- The CSR follows the standard operating procedures that govern the
business and profession of pharmacy.
3. Leads are Closed
- The CSR solves problems for our clients by closing sales and marketing
leads. This may require primarily answering incoming calls, but also
may include outgoing follow-up phone calls, letters, or faxes.
- The CSR searches for opportunities to solve other customer problems
using compounded medication, where appropriate.
4. Grow the Business through Customer/Market Information
- CSR seeks and gathers information from customers to grow the business.
- The CSR identifies and formally (in writing) shares new product ideas
generated by the customers.
- The CSR identifies and formally shares feedback on our performance,
as it is key to improving our business.
- The CSR identifies and formally shares their ideas on new specialties
to target and ways with which we could target them.
- The CSR formally collects marketing information that will further
future sales to a particular customer, such as that customers preferences,
specialty, etc.
- The CSR formally collects marketing information that will help us
determine the success or failure of our marketing programs, such as
where leads are generated and their response to different marketing
messages.
- The CSR formally collects any competitive information provided by
customers.
5. Customer Service System Runs Smoothly and Predictably and is an
Exceptional Business Tool
- The CSR provides formal feedback to improve the CSR systems, including
electronic, dialogue scripts (not Rx's), messages, etc.
- The CSR may take on projects to improve Wedgewood CSR systems.
- The CSR works within the SOP of the CSR system in order to maintain
consistency and efficiency.

Position: Compounding Technician
Reports to: Pharmacist
Summary
The goal of the compounding technician is to increase pharmacy profit
by supporting the acquisition and retention of quality customers and to
increase sales by compounding the highest quality medication in accordance
with relevant state and federal regulations. The technician accomplishes
these tasks through working with Wedgewood’s management team and
all other staff employees in fulfilling his / her responsibilities and
duties.
Job Responsibilities & Duties (Include the following, but
are not limited to)
- Compound individual, bulk, sterile, and non-sterile products under
the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Learn and maintain all systems for production and quality control
of individual, bulk, sterile, and non-sterile products.
- Provide regular feedback to supervising pharmacist / team leader on
ways to improve systems for production, quality control, and safety.
- Identify and recommend improvements to product formulations in order
to increase compounding efficiency and consistency while maintaining
the highest level of quality.
- Implement and maintain systems for training compounding technicians
in general, bulk, and aseptic policies and procedures.
- Assist other compounding team members in meeting production demands,
ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Follow all Wedgewood policies and procedures and recommend any improvements.
- Support all facets of Wedgewood’s operations as necessary to
ensure high quality customer service, safety, and effective workflow
within the organization
Position-Specific Standards
- All compounding will be done using good compounding techniques and
lab practices and, when necessary, good aseptic practices according
to company policy.
- When working in the lab, all compounding staff will adhere to all
safety guidelines including, but not limited to, lab coats, gloves,
protective eye wear, and masks.
- Recommended changes or improvements in product formulas will be put
in writing on the formula worksheet and given to a pharmacist for review.
- During compounding, packaging, and labeling all individual, bulk,
and aseptic products will be clearly identified by having either a lot
label or formula worksheet attached to the product.
- All compounding technicians will give the highest level of attention
to the products they are compounding and remain constantly focused while
they are compounding in order to ensure high quality products and maintain
a safe working environment for themselves and others.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements
